About The Department
The Department of Home Science was established in the year 2019, with an undergraduate course in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics The three-year program, since its start, has worked towards quality in developing the skill sets and innate talents of the students. The curriculum is well structured in such a way that it covers all aspects of food science, clinical nutrition, and dietetics.
Students undergo a one-month dietary internship at various multi-specialty hospitals in and around Chennai. The department is actively engaged in various extension activities like imparting nutrition education to ICDS beneficiaries. Various workshops, seminars, and symposium are periodically organized by the department with eminent speakers and academicians. Students are encouraged to undertake minor research project work as part of their curriculum by using the facilities in the campus like Nutrition and Dietetics Laboratory, Human Physiology Laboratory, Food preparation Laboratory, Chemistry Laboratory, Microbiology and Physiology Laboratory. Career opportunities of our Graduates can choose to work in Academic and research Institutions, Food product development scientist, Hospitals, Food service Institutions and Industries in government and private sectors. We feel pride that our student Ms. Karthiga achieved Gold medal from University of Madras for her academic performance in examination results.

+2 Pass (Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects taken in their higher secondary examination) State Board or equivalent of any other board
