The National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell of Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Arts and Science (Co-Ed) College is a dynamic platform that nurtures social responsibility, leadership, and community engagement among students. Guided by the motto “Not Me But You,” the NSS Cell encourages young volunteers to actively participate in nation-building activities and contribute meaningfully to society. It serves as a bridge between the institution and the community, fostering a spirit of service, empathy, and teamwork.
The NSS Cell regularly organizes a wide range of outreach programs, including health and hygiene awareness drives, environmental conservation initiatives, blood donation camps, rural development activities, and social awareness campaigns. Through special camps, cleanliness drives, tree plantation programs, and workshops, students gain hands-on experience in addressing real-world challenges. These activities not only benefit the community but also help students develop organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Beyond community service, the NSS Cell plays a vital role in shaping responsible and socially conscious citizens. It provides students with opportunities to work collaboratively, understand societal issues, and cultivate values such as discipline, compassion, and civic responsibility. By combining service with learning, the NSS Cell empowers students to become proactive individuals committed to making a positive impact on society.
TThe NSS operates through two major programs: the Regular Programme, conducted throughout the academic year, and the Special Camping Programme, a seven-day residential camp organized in the adopted village. Both programs are planned and implemented in accordance with the guidelines of the Central and State Governments, focusing on holistic student development and community welfare.
