About the Department

Started in 2020, the Department of B.Com Accounting and Finance offers a job-oriented programme tailored to the growing demand for finance professionals. The curriculum is periodically upgraded to meet corporate challenges and includes projects, internships, and continuous assessment.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (12th) in State Board or equivalent with Commerce and Accountancy.
• Admission is based on merit and university regulations.

Purpose and Direction

• To provide a comprehensive understanding of financial reporting, taxation, corporate finance, and market practices.
• Focus on strengthening links with industry, professional bodies, and stock market-related training to enhance real-world readiness.

Course Takeaways

Students acquire knowledge in general finance, tax management, corporate finance, financial analysis, and performance evaluation, and are prepared for courses like CA, CMA, ACS, and MBA. They also gain employability skills through bridge courses, extension activities, leadership programmes, and online marketing projects.

Signature activities include a workshop on “The Role of Income Tax in Nation Building,” a seminar on “GST 2.0 – The Way Ahead for Tax Professionals,” and a two-day workshop on the National Stock Exchange. Students have secured university ranks and overseas employment, reflecting the strength of the programme.
